American Gamefowl

Getting some much needed rain been pretty dry especially our spring.
Same here. The rain moved through the last couple of days and this week will be beautiful! Chickens sure are enjoying the cooler temps too.

Yes all the hatch colored blacks have been thicker feathered. Maybe a little harder. The leiper blacks I crossed this year are all 50/50 so they are thicker feathered similar to a leiper.
Interesting, do you think that is a characteristic of black birds in general? I am not sure, I have seen some black flow that look like they are heavily feathered, but these black cubans I have are the same way, shorter and tighter in feather.

I’ve never seen a black that was as heavy feathered as say a hatch unless it was a recent cross. If you look head on at the birds most hatch type birds have a thick heavy cape that practically covers the neck. Blacks rarely do.

I’ll be glad when they’re all done molting. I need to rake up feathers and clean all my pens. My yard looks like I’ve had a pack of dogs ran through here.

He's doing the best he can.
Only Bunny I've seen a good while. He only goes inside the fence when I have it turned off, maybe I can corral him, he sure doesn't run away, I about stepped on him last night:hmm
