Too much fat in corn bread yuck. Did you feel it on your teeth when you were done eating?

Ham hock goes in beans.
Maybe bacon ..but that's more for baked beans not cornbread and beans.


I like spam. . sliced real thin and fried. Used to be cheap too. .not no more.

Dang you might as well buy a steak.:gigit's almost 5 dollars a can sometimes.

I guess I've never just purchased a "fat back" for anything. I don't like a lot of extra fat.
I don't trim the fat off of a pork loin though. . I like to sear it. . fat is what gives meat a good flavor if it's cooked right.
I do use bacon. . used to always save bacon grease to flavor stuff with but I don't do that so much anymore. I try to stay away from adding extra calories and fat.

I know it was damn good.

Fatback is used to cook with in a lot of things you being the lunch lady we figured you'd done stepped up your game :lau
 
$5 a can is expensive? How many cans of this dog food meat does it take to make a meal?

I'm sure it was good. The Problem with all that good stuff people used to eat. . .is people also used to work their butts off all day too.
Even some of the most active people probably still don't work like folks used to.
If I eat cook and eat like that all the time I'll be 300 pounds in no time flat.
