Most folks here say soda, so I catch hell for saying pop... seems to be just in the KC area here, not sure why...

Up there I caught hell for saying ‘akern’ instead of ‘acorn’ ... i still think akern sounds better though, lol

Pop is an onomatopoeic word for a small explosion or similar sound.

Such as the sound pop makes when ya open it keep up here.
