American Gamefowl

I think it was this thread we were talking about letting venison ‘wet age’ before putting it up...

My wife took an 8pt on the 16th... so 11 days on ice and changing the water, and now the real work starts

I got my traps in today. I got 6. How do I de-scent them? What else will I need to do to them befor setting them

I’m not sure you need to be real concerned with it for rats...

but boil or wash them in hot water should be all you need...

if you were going to dye them you might spray them with vinegar after to break the surface so that the dye could work on the rust...

But again for your needs I’d say just hot water with maybe a bit of soap, and then a hot rinse is likely all you’ll need.

Got your rat killin music cued up?;)

Do I need to dye them so rust won't accumulate on them. I plan on keeping them so I would like to take care of them properly. My rat killing music is on 24/7. I listen to the same music regardless of what I'm doing lol

I wouldn’t do anything to them for rats except loosen the pan tension and you might have to stick a screw driver in the slot behind the pan post and bend it forward or backwards to make sure it sits level or a little lower than the set jaws.
After the rust starts to accumulate on them which will take some time then you can dip them in a trap dip or dye them with logwood dye, old leaves and walnuts etc in a rubber tote.

DH came home with a great story today..
He busted a road hunter. :lau
A younger guy. . piece of poo dirt bag we know.
Tried to take a shot at a 12 point from his truck.
J was a little way behind him on a dirt road. Saw what he was going to do and rolled up on him with his headlights off. . (it was barley day break)
Just as he slung the gun over the hood he hit the lights and revved up the motor on the old Chevy.. :lau:lau:lau:lau
Said he dang near shot himself trying to get back in the truck and took off like a bat outta hell! :lau:gig:lau:gig
