American Gamefowl

I think I’ll do better trapping this year if I get this knife. It will go along nicely with my trapping axe. That will complete the ensemble. Don’t be shy folks. Christmas is right around the corner and beaver season opens the 26th.

What’s the “partial black” blade finish? Is that really just a fancy way of saying half polished?

Generally speaking, among layers I find most hens rather boring, and the roosters are where the magic is...

But in looking at Wyorp’s hen and these pics it occurred to me that the hens are more interesting to me :idunno

I've got some beauty's forsure. Gonna be a shame when I go to culling cause the majority are pretty bad a** females, but I don't need them all.

Ain't nothing boring with these type birds until I did this Havoc/dmm cross I'd never seen pullets break 3-4ft in the air. I've had a pullet or two whip on older hens and these ain't but 7months old. They are fun to watch and funny as well some of them will play fight run turn around buck up and continue to do that for 5-10minutes you can tell when they mean business though it's crazy.

We can't really turn males lose lol so I settle for watching females and deciding what I personally want to breed but in reality I probably couldn't go wrong with any of these crosses or blacks.

I think to maintain and improve you have to cull hard...

My granddad’s saying for why his cattle were a step above was ‘they might have fancy papers and bulls from Texas, but I cull what they would keep’

It’s like a hammered type finish. Doesn’t matter to me. They’re made to be used.
I see a lot of fancy knives out there for hundreds of $$$ and you just know they aren’t being used. Guys play with em, look at em and then put them up. Never getting them bloody, cutting wood or god forbid it gets a little mud on them.
That same knife if it was actually forged with the same quality sheath would cost at least $200-300. I’ll take the look on a strong knife for $64 and use it like it was meant to be used any day over the safe queen collector crowd. Fake as the day is long.
