American Gamefowl

Haven’t set any beaver traps yet but there’s plenty of fresh sign. All spots require chest deep swimming so I’m really not too excited about spending money to bust my *ss catching worthless pelts.

Thanks! :)

I like the 'poof' too LOL My photos really stink, so he looks even better than that, Really!

I thinks they are lost in the woods, swamp or maybe a dam busted?! I don't know:confused:
Could be nice weather, holidays, kids out of school, they hate us...ehh, they will show up sometime.

It was 67F earlier today, so took advantage of that and got some stuff hauled to the dump (Fun) Gonna start raining, I was just beginning to like this weather too:(
Been raining all flipping day here.

I’m pretty much washed out on the trapping front here...

I’ll probably spring what I have out in the morning as I check them and then wait for things to dry up...

found a nice big shed antler yesterday... went back today and found the other side about 25 yards away from where the first one was

Prime fur on the line today ;) ... that big flashy dirt hole was beggin for a coyote or a punkin headed possum, so it was 50/50 either way, lol

And since we’re close to the eve... and I only know one song for it, here’s a version I like ... there are others though, so stay tuned... hope you all are taking care...

Need ya'll's opinion from experience. Wind can be an issue here, like about everywhere. I like to move my dome pens a lot, and at the same time am kinda lazy about staking them down. My experience is that my 4x6 domes with 2x4 bases and a full tarp cover can really sail.

1. Can I significantly REDUCE the wind effect by using 2x6s on a 4x4 or 4x6 dome AND by covering only half the pen? Will put shingle underlayment only over roost area this time.

2. No wind flipping issues with the 8x8 hoophouse I built with a 2x4 base and cattle panels, and it is 6' tall. Would a 6x6x6 dome be less likely to flip too because of its wider base? Do I need to use 2x6s for the base or are 2x4s okay? I am thinking of that size and height so I can walk in. Crawling is getting to be an issue at my age!

3. If I do stake, is one piece of rebar generally enough? It's not just lazy to ask this cuz I have major rock issues. I am talking exposed shale. I'd use 2-4 rebar if I seldom moved the pens but I like to drag them to a new spot every 1-4 days.

4. I know for a 4x4 dome 4' tall I need to cut a 10' piece of wire for the top/sides. Does anybody know the length to cut for a pen 6x6x6? Should I use conduit too because I am building with 12.5 gauge welded wire but going high?

Thanks for any help!

I tie down and link together what pens I can with cinder blocks. I have rock issues and winds issues here, this is what works for me on this mountain.

I couldn't ever seem to get wooden stakes to work very well in this clay rocky land. I'd break and crack more than I'd get in.... so I eventually switched over to the blocks. The chicken yard is quite bad I bent a few tie cord stakes it's hard finding a place with no rock and was a real pain for the electric fence post as well.

You can sorta see in these pictures.
