I was originally going to do IPO with a Doberman but most of the breeders I was in contact with all had bloodlines going back to Eastern Europe on one side or the other and it’s rampant with DCM so I decided on a Dutch shepherd and malinoisX. Im not a real big fan of all the groups in my area. The fact that many dogs qualify on their home turf and but can’t anywhere else annoys me. I’m not a big fan of all the favoritism and petty BS. So...I doubt I’ll end up doing IGP and just end up training for personal protection. I still may if either is good enough though. Both dogs are from KNPV lines and are doing well so far. We’ll see though how they turn out.

I also wanted to add that I love Dobermans and have had several. One special girl that I got in '79 lived to be 18 years old! It's beyond sad what is happening to some breeds these days. I was at the AKC site the other day checking on something and happened to notice that the life expectancy for German Shepherds is now listed at only 7 to 10 years. WTF?
