Most 95+ vehicles have a lock up clutch in the tq converter thus making it easier on the trans and easier drive ability. When it's engaged you will get all the power a converter is meant to slip in stop and go when cruising the lock up clutch will engage. If it's lockzing and unlocking its cause a buck and usually a whine/ vibration.
No whine or vibration, this is more like a lurch or pothole

Let's say you are in 4th and it's at 2k well then it drops rpm a few hundred that is lock up. Let's take my gold truck for example it's got a 3200 stall converter i have it setup in the computer to not lock in 1-2 partially lock in 3rd under 75% throttle and full lock in 4th. Slipping a transmission is what it is basically doing until it fully locks up.
I understand now thanks. Mine happens very random

Sounds like transmission to me. Once they start going that’s when people sell em. I sold my Jeep when it started too. Lol I told them the trans was going though so they definitely knew it. Same thing though it would skip at take off sometimes and sometimes at highway speed.
