That’s about what I was thinking. Figured I’d take two off his hands and see how it goes I can’t remember much about them but I know the roosters we had when I was a kid were awesome around the farm.

They're better than most in general from males to females. Only downside is if you're hoping they'll lay like a leghorn well you'll have no such luck and they tend to go broody more aswell.

A few eggs here and there are fine with me I eat more eggs than anybody else here and I can’t eat a dozen in two weeks so I think they’ll be fine. I mostly got the chickens for something to do as a hobby.

Not quite. Looks like all the other Leiper/blacks I have. My Leipers don’t look anything like yours.

Your gonna get all kinds of variety with gamefowl. Sims himself Got what we call or think of as blacks but in reality he had many come like the bird havoc posted a few pages back with the brown in the chest and hatched colored blacks. People wondered why they got hatch looking or blueface looking blacks from Sims down the line but he also did himself.

That being said most families we like to call this or that originally were many many crosses put together and set as a family. Once you add on top of all the years beforehand it's all up in the air. Most leiper I've seen are dark fowl and usually with a black ring around the eyes that plus the sims your gonna get mostly dark fowl with brown popping out.

I took mugs (blue hen) and blacks and got brown red, black and blue.
