American Gamefowl

I think there’s a lot of variables when it comes to eggs too. The age and health of the parents affects the viability of the egg. Shipping on top of what could be mediocre eggs to begin with along with the temp fluctuations during shipping and the odds are against you lol
The problem with buying a pair id think would be you’re more likely to get a brother and sister unless you paid quite a bit more. Of course you’d never know til they started falling apart after a few generations and even then it would just be a guess.
Seems like this is not an easy hobby .. Lol. I'm up for the challenge though.

One more question if you don't mind. What time of year that you know of would be best to try and order eggs? I can imagine their being many variables. ..

Right now would be the best time through May probably depending on where you live and temps.

I’d like to hatch a couple so far she’s got two eggs in the nest and the wife saw her sitting today while I was at work so fingers crossed she goes broody soon

Usually takes 6 plus eggs from what I've noticed and usually helps if ya pull the rooster (if ya haven't already) some times they just keep aggravating the hens and prolong the process. Hopefully ya get a few!

Yeah I’m just gonna let her keep laying. I pulled him out today he’s been in with her the last 5 days figured that was good enough. Hopefully she goes broody I guess we shall see.

Nothing wrong with that everybody starts somewhere I’m just now getting started myself I’ve learned a lot and continue to learn each day. It’s a full time job with gamefowl I can tell you that there a lot more work than a regular old barnyard chicken but there well worth it and very enjoyable.
I don't want to buy a $100+ rooster and at the end not like the results of the hens and rooster.
