American Gamefowl

Good mug blood won't do ya wrong. They come blue and can look like blackfowl very similar looking to Mel sim and Velcro fowl.

A few of my mug blood and crosses from different places in the country from reputable sources. Definitely some of my favorite birds as a whole. Be Patient no need to jump the gun and get in over your head.

I would be slightly suspect of a 5 month old stag at this time of year. That would mean he was hatched in January or so. I guess depending on where you live it might be ok but birds hatched that early or late depending on how you look at it won’t generally be as strong and healthy as a spring/early summer hatched chick.
Mother Nature has game hens hatching eggs in spring/summer for a reason.

I would tend to agree with this especially in parts of the country where we actually have a decent winter/cold. Tread lightly 5months don't tell ya a lot about a bird and not every individual is created equal.

If your honestly looking for halfway decent birds there's a guy in this thread that has the most gentle blend of miner/mug which Is some of the blood above.

If you want even more mug blood Del Mac mug direct is also a good place to start. I have both no complaints really.

That's a really nice rooster you have, for him not to attack the little chicks.
I’d blow his head clean off if he messed with the chicks. The only thing you have to watch is them inadvertently stepping on them. Some can be a little clumsy. I have seen a rooster grab a chick and toss it out of the way. He wasn’t alive much longer.

View attachment 2196941this ones look really nice.I just want a rooster to keep with my hens for now, might start breeding more in the future years if I like the results.
That is a nice looking rooster. He would be way more than $175 I bet.
Did you get some photos from the guy you've been talking with?

Let me ask you this. I'm still new to GF as well, so I'm not needling you at all. Do you have any GF hens or are they layers?

Also I just ran across your thread in the ER forum :) You already have a rooster?

How do you plan on housing a GF rooster if you get one?

I did get some pictures sadly they are not like that one,3 gamefowl hens and in the process of getting at least 3 more.I have 2 roosters. What I plan on doing is get the gamefowl rooster, get rid of the older rooster, build another coop,I already bought some egg layer chicks, waiting to see which ones are female, leave the egg layer females for the other rooster, relocate them to the other coop so my main coop is now fully gamefowl and not a hot mess of mixed chickens.

Do you have a picture of the rooster?
