Sounds good friend of mine so tearing down a house and said I could get all the lumber I wanted out of it so that’ll work out good lol

Yeah I just use what I’ve got and that’s usually plenty of used oil. That’s sounds like a plan hopefully it works out.

My luck ain’t usually much but when I go to building something I usually run into somebody getting rid of some wood lol.

This new property has been a lot of work but to see this has been such a reward it’s nice to wake up and look over and see all my birds especially the bigger roosters crowing there heads off never thought I’d be this heavy into it as I grew up around cattle mostly but these Chickens have become something I love and something my wife and I both enjoy.

Oh yeah I defiantly will be next year just have some more brush to clear to put my actual fence all the way around it.

I can’t free range just yet I let them out but put them up I’ve got to put actual fence up before I let them run lose I’ve got a nice wooded area behind the yard there on I’m clearing some brush off of but I plan to let them range once I get it done I just don’t want to chance losing another one over my stupidity. I’m learning but it’s Been lessons learned the hard way lol

A regular fence isn’t going to keep them inside unless you make it about 15 ft tall. They will just fly over it and go where they want. I end up with chickens on my roof and the hens routinely fly the 80yds or so across my yard.

Even the electric fence won’t keep every chicken from going through it. Some will low crawl under it and the occasional few learn to just hop through it after being shocked a few times. It’s more for keeping predators out then chickens in.
Heavy layer breeds will generally stay in but even a few of them will learn how to get through it.

Yeah I’ve already experienced that they all just went through it w couple got a zap but they just flew over it lol.

Yeah ain’t keeping em in or out really with and electric fence or hell any fence an average person can afford to build big and tall enough for free ranging gamefowl. My little ones from this season are constantly on the house or barn. When it’s feed time alls ya see is a bunch of birds flying from all over the place.
