American Gamefowl

Yeah ain’t keeping em in or out really with and electric fence or hell any fence an average person can afford to build big and tall enough for free ranging gamefowl. My little ones from this season are constantly on the house or barn. When it’s feed time alls ya see is a bunch of birds flying from all over the place.

I’m gonna free range just trying to get the place cleaned up first I know it’s be a lot better for them. Still gonna add a nice fence line around my entire place just to help keep the critters away from the pens I’ve got a few acres of nice wooded area they can free range in.

There’s so much brush it’s be easy to lose birds very easy hiding for predators here should have it all cleared this fall though.

The only way I would put a fence around the yard like that would be if I put electric on it too with extended insulators. That would be killing two birds with one stone instead of having electric around the pens and then a fence that basically doesn’t stop the animals that will eat your chickens. I have a welded wire fence with electric like I described and it’s a pain in the ass to maintain. The insulators bust in the cold, the electric wire touches the fence and grounds the whole thing. Branches and trees fall etc... the grass has to be kept short around the bottom wire and the list goes on. More power to ya though.

I may not go with the welded wire all around it’s probably a waste of time may just add metal t posts all around and re do the electric fence all around the property instead of just where the pens are. Either way they’ll jump either one hell the momma hen to the pumpkins flew on top the old house trailer lol

I’m sure it would look nice but would be a pain to maintain and cost a decent amount plus the work involved. The fact that it would basically be a decoration would stop me. Don’t get me wrong a fence is still a barrier but possums, coons, fox and coyotes will climb it with ease.

Yeah I’ve messed with them you can bend them over your knee lol. I just got these to fence the pens in for now but it’ll have electric all the way around soon enough.

I still have a few of them posts in the shed. Cheap ass things. I’m not even sure what they’re made for or why I bought them. I guess I didn’t know any better at the time. Pisses me off just looking at them. Lol
