OMG, yep! And they just issued masks required again in my county inside buildings… I have no clue how the school district thinks it is going back to normal... or the State.

Well on the nongames… Phoenix, Black Swedish hens we hatched are the breeds left, excellent fliers. We are currently raising chicks Blue Sumatra, Yokohama, Crested Legbar X, Sport White Crested Legbar... these are from two different companies Cackle and my Pet Chicken… Cackle chicks are healthy growing, look in general to not have any obvious culling genetic defects as far just being healthy chickens yet… My Pet Chicken order and replacement order was dismal failure, first batch DOA, second batch arrived alive but all but one chick refused to eat or drink… nothing we did helped. So only one Legbar survived which was the one that showed no odd behavior. We have a Meyers order coming… if all goes well more Legbars & Legbar crosses, Marans, D’Uccles, EE Bantams, Naked Necks and Egyptians. We are trying a few new breeds and crosses out along with new hatcheries. We had chickens from Ideal, Cackle, Hoover and Private Breeders in last flock. Ideal and Hoover were purchased via the feed stores… but all did well, so we have had several breeds… we are replacing some breeds, trying new, and cutting some breeds off our list of breeds. Heat is a thing here… so I noticed some breeds or Xs did poorly. Others just fine.

Game breeds will be added back eventually. We liked our spunky Asian games we had hatched and raised, they were bold birds… no fear, always curious. Asil Xs. The games were family favorites. Main thing is deciding which type of game… that’s a big box as you all know.

Do any of you ever eat your game hens? Curious....

I haven't GF hens, but I would if I needed to cull numbers. I bet they taste like chicken!😁

Do any of you eat your game hens? Curious about what you make with them since they are small....
Same reply that I gave back in June when you asked.
No, not any GF hens. Stags/cockerels, yes. They taste like chicken😝

I assume the GF hens taste like chicken too...so you could make any dish you wish. Depending on age, slow cooking (crockpot or low slow oven) would probably be good. Serve with smashed taters, butter, cranberry and green beans.
Mmmmm Good!🙃
