americana hen or roo?

my americana is 5 months old and named papa smurf (because of his/hers papa smurf like white beard)
i when it was a chick i thought it was a roo because it was bigger than the others and had a longer tail than the rest. but as it got older he/she never grew a comb and hasnt crowed yet so now i think it is a hen. any suggestions?

Below is a picture of mine at about that age.....it ended up being a roo. He was so sweet and beautiful though, I swore he was going to be a girl! Next to him is an Ameracauna pullet and Barred Rock roo. If you can see the pullet's comb isn't even a hint pink......

The two roos in my picture broke my heart too. You could do what I did and get new chicks to replace him

he was my only americauna i had, i was hoping for green eggs
