Oh, I agree, EEs are great birds. I have both EEs and true Ameraucanas. Mine are up in years now. I have one EE hen who is almost 7 years old and still lays. My black Ameraucana is 7 1/2 and my splash Ameraucana is almost 7 and both are laying now. Great gals. Enjoy your hen! She's got nice coloring! I like her a lot.
Since EEs have mixed genetics, there is no "normal" for them. I've had them lay as early as 25 weeks or so or as late as 40 weeks. It really depends. The ones I "made" by crossing my BR or Delaware roosters over my true Ameraucana or EE hens tended to lay earlier than the others for some reason, but you just never know.At what age do they normally start laying? Bought this one at pullet age and she has grown.
