Americana Rooster

    Ok I'm still learning about them but....wouldn't a full blood Americana rooster have slate or black legs like the full blood hen? And not yellow legs

    Correct. Also, it's spelled Ameraucana. (Don't worry, I used to spell it wrong all the time too [​IMG])

    Thank you for the correction and confirmation![​IMG] I had a guy trying to give me a supposed Ameraucana rooster but his legs were as yellow as could be!! he had some in him probably because he had the tufts on the side of his face but definitely not a full blood.

    He probably bought the bird as an ameraucana and just didn't know any better. That's what Easter eggers are sold as from hatcheries all over the place, and folks just don't know.

    Tufts are a trait of Araucana, not Ameraucana. Beards and muffs, fluffy cheeks and neck, are traits of Ameraucanas. You saw an Easter Egger.
