Okay, so my mom said that if I can find a way to get the dogs from Livingston, then I can get 1-2! :celebrate I'm so excited! Plus, my aunt may be able to pick them up! :D

Right on. Good for you.
R u ready?....in your heart?... ..in your head?..... .....in your body?.....
Actually, I think it's kinda like being a parent. Even after waiting till I was 32 and then already having 5 of my own and even before that helping bring up others' children(female love interests that had already borned child/children of sperm donors[loser BOYfriends]), I was still not ready for my baby girl.....or the one before that.... ....or the one before that..... .....or..... .....or..!!!!
I just did what needed to be done.
The biggest favor i ever did fir anyone was for myself. I got humble. I asked for help. Thank goodness I had people that I could go to for all levels of support.
Emotional support is a biggy. Of course $$ is a biggy today but that's always available 1 way or another.
Another big thing is knowledge. "What happens if....." ".if I do this..." "This needs...." "If I want...." "Where...." "Why...." "How...."

Another great favour I did was keep active. And thank goodness because even though I'm pretty banged up(you dont get injuries like mine sitting on the couch playing video games or surfing the net or texting all day)I'm still in reasonably good physical condition. I eat pretty darn good. I've. Come to know my body and what and how to feed it. I like veggies and fruit but also recognize I need meat and fat for strength and energy(I like the taste too). Just like a dog or a wolf. Don't get me wrong, now and then I still like to munch potatoe chips and other things that aren't so great for me. And ice-cream & me, well, we have a love hate relationship. I love it but it hates me, I get horrible lactose intolerance symptoms. Just like a dog or a wolf. And work, and :lol:play and love hard. Just like a dog or a wolf..
Oh my. Maybe I was a dog or wolf in my previous life

Question- how do you get your dogs to run? My dog has no problem pulling me, it's just motivation that's hard. He will walk/trot then once we get home he'll tear through the house full-speed. I'm not sure where all that energy hides :idunno

ETA- If he sees another dog or person, it's no issue at all. He runs full speed and I have to jump off and grab the leash at the same time to make sure he doesn't get too close to the person as there's nothing more terrifying as a dog running full speed at you.

I just harness mine and put them on line. They follow the leader. Simple.

Oh yeah, I'm ready. Lol Though, if it's being like a parent, everybody says you're never completly ready to be one. For the emotional part, I've got my close friends and family to help me out. Money wise, my parents can support me if it gets too tough. Plus I raise a market animal for 4-H and this year I'm raising a steer so when I sell him that'll be around $3,000 or more. Knowledge, well, I have done tons and tons of research and just about everything else has to be learned by experience. Then I've got you guys and the teacher at my school. If all else fails, I got Google. I am plenty active. When we were in Boise, ID (friends and family there) we went to the fair. There was a Marine Core booth (you know, the one for the military) and they let people see if they are strong/fit enough to pass (push ups, sit-ups, pull ups, planking, ect). I passed the women's division with flying colors and the men's was a little challenging but passable. Plus there is PE where we run the mile every week and I'm always in the 7-8 min range. When we don't run the mile, we run half a mile just for a warm up. Then stretches and whatever game/activity is planned for that day. Strength isn't an issue, I can't beat like 80% of the boys in my grade (about 160 boys and girls) in arm wrestling. Now I feel like I'm bragging  but the point is, I'm ready. Being a dog or wolf in a previous life would be cool. I've always wondered if I was some rich and famous person in a previous life. Or an animal. I was always taught that loved ones that pass away turn into humming birds and often will come visit you to see if you're doing okay. Then they go to heaven but are sometimes sent back as Angels and turn into animals to help people. But that's just my belief. :idunno

Hi!!
So I talked to my folks again last night and they said I can do a race! If all goes well, I will use Meringue in lead and borrow my friend's puppy team. Meringue still refuses to  "line out" or "gee"   Any ideas?? I can't run her solo in lead like i could when I first got her.

OOOOOO. I'm so excited for you. So hey for you. I almost got tears in my eyes.
Right on. Good for you.
I can't believe how happy for you I am. Kinda jealous too.
I just feel like a little kid.

Meringue on the other hand.
I think she just needs more time in harness. All my dogs go through that from time to time, especially the younger ones.
Wait, sorry. I lied. Neither Ashliegh, Sparticus, Okimaw or Lefty ever slacked-off. Even when they were tired. Once after 60 miles only Okimaw, Mispoon and Lefty were the only ones still pulling out of a hitch of 9. Later on that year though after working just about everyday, all were pulling all the time.
Encouragement and confrontation. When you confront a behaviour do it slyly if you can. A snowball perhaps, run up alongside a pretend to trip or accidentally kick a clump of snow at a slacker. Run with her and call commands as you go.
Praise up your dogs. Let them know you're pleased with their behaviour. I even giggle and/or laugh with my dogs, or little exclamations of glee when they are working hard.
The more you talk to your dogs the more they see to understand, the more of a friend and working companion you are to/with them the more they'll come to appreciate your good will for them.
Like I've said so many different ways, it's a way of life not just a small part of one of our hobbies.
I'm sorry I can't help more rightnow. I gota get back outside. I just came in for lunch and actually stayed in much longer than I should have.
Maybe more later.
Please feel free to respond in any way you feel you need to.
I hope this helps.
Life is a 4 letter word. It starts with W.

Haha on me. I didn't hit the "SUBMIT" button. Here I am 3 hrs later chores all done, wood hauled and just sending now

HA! Sorry. I went to a hockey game with my wife and baby girl. Home team won 5-4. I'm guessing all of you are sleeping as I'm doing this but I'm just gona yammer on.
I just read all the posts. There's some nice dogs. I like Shadow and Kili and the blue eyed agouti a and the blue eyed white.
I had a white one like that a few years ago.his name was Pepsi. Smart and strong he was.
Red Sibes lack the gene that'll duces black pigment. I found them to be more tender footed and a tad more aggressive, albeit pretty.
It sounds to me that all of you are getting pretty excited about aquiring some additions and/or racing and/or mushing in general.
I gota tell you all it's addicting. But a much healthier addiction than drugs, alcohol, over eating, gambling and/or the opposite sex.
Once I got back into mushing full swing its been too hot to put down.
Some people around here say that I'm weird or doing it for recreation or fun. I can't disagree with them. I've always been weird.....in the sense that I have always thought out of the box. Recreation?.... ..ya,....sorta. Fun?.... ...again....ya, sorta. All of it but as I've stated before, it's a way of life for me. Cheaper than a snowmobile, smells better, no pollution, viable source of income via eco-tourism, always ready to work or hunt when I am, they don't swear atmeorcallmedown, and they are always happy to see me, food in hand or not. Again as I've stated before, therapeutic too. It's the game) it was -30*lnight, which is also -40*F.
In Cree it's "mitoniitahkayow", very much so bitterly cold in English.
While I was at the hockey game I was speaking with a musher buddy and we are considering hosting a race in my community in January or early Februar
We hope to get everything done with 10G. You're all invited too so get ready.
Whether or not it becomes a reality though remains to be seen. Prayer sure will help.
Gee. Gota sleep now. Nodding off sometimes now. It is after all 1:30AM
G'nyt.

Blue pull out ur lead dog book. Maybe it'll help. Start her like a newbie.
Lol OK!

I'm going to see if I can borrow another dog to run lead with her. I'm defiantly going to work Meringue a lot more before.
