Anyone ever use 'satin balls'? I have a dog who needs to gain some weight quickly and preferably cheaply and was wondering how much the satin balls helped. He wants to eat but he doesn't gain no matter how much I feed him. Right now he is getting 6 cups of Diamond High Energy kibble, 3-5 chicken/duck eggs, along with chicken meat scraps. I just don't know what else to give him and with him eating as much kibble I don't think I will able to continue to feed him as much as he is getting because Diamond kibble isn't cheap. The bag says 2-3 cups for a 50-60 pound dog and he's getting 2-3 times that. He just eats and eats without gaining (that I can see anyways). I'm going to start weighing him daily to track his progress. His hips, back, and ribs are where the lack of muscle/fat shows the most. Then his hindquarters and shoulders don't have a whole lot of muscle either. Has anyone tried satin balls? Supposedly they make them gain weight within a few days but I don't want to make them to find out they don't work. Also, should they still be pulling the bike? They get time off leash to run but the pulling would help the build muscle, I think. But then again I also don't want the skinny dog to loose more weight from having to exert more energy. What do you think?

Sled dogs are suppose to be skinny. Meringue is only 35 pounds. Some dogs are just small dogs, despite their blood line. You don't want fat on a working sled dog. How much does he weight now? Can you post pics, including one looking down on him?

Hanks 65 lbs at 6 1\2 months
He's got LOTS of muscle thou,

With Hank is it OK for him to give rides yet? He's got all commands down, he's my wheel dog,
He gave my nephew (25lbs) a quick little ride today

With Nala she's 44lbs and little muscle but can pull 25-30 she gave my other nephew(35lbs) a ride today but had a little hard time. She's got almost all lead commands down!! Just working on her going at a trot or faster, not a walk.. LOL

My plan for 2-3 years is to get an already trained or experienced pup from this lady in Alaska!
Then my senior year(3yshcoolearsish) o get a Catahoula Leapord Dog pup ( I like the breed and I need a herring dog)

Did I tell you guys that Hank is 1\2 Sib 1\4Great Dane 1\4Lab
The owner of he dad stopped by and talked to us because he heard about how his dog gpoy Nala prey and he thought he deserved one, oops sire all gone Lol

OK, I'm a little excited! I found a dog who has racing experienced an she's free! I'm going to talk to mom and dad and serif I can convened them I need her! I really do! She's a Co-Leader so is Nala so together they'd be great! I hope lol

She's a bit a distance but I have a wonderful brother who would go and get he for me!

Gosh I really hope I can convened them! But I'm kinda grounded right now so I'll see

I'm not sure how much he weighs but probably around 57-58 pounds and when I got him he was closer to 65 pounds. I will weigh him tomorrow. His ribs are easy to feel not so much see because his coat but his hip bones stick out too. He's not fat but he's also not exactly in the best shape. He's gained a lot more the last couple of days but his hips worry me the most. :/ I will post pics after replying to the rest of the posts.

He's getting big! My pup is 7 1/2 months and barely 30 pounds. Then again, not too similar in bloodline/breed.

That might explain why Hank is so big. Great Danes are huge dogs. It will be interesting to see where he ends in at. He's definitely going to be stout and tall.

That's awesome. Dogs with experience are very helpful when training other dogs. Good luck with your parents!

Hi guys/gals.
long time.
Bin bzy. Crazy weather here. It started snowing yesterday about lunch time and now we have like 6"s. I could go mushing. But everything is put away. Too uch time and energy to get ready. Besides, the sun is out now and stating to melt the snow.
No birds singing this morn. Nor a frog, nor a crane or goose or even a duck. Of course my "spring fever feeling" roosters are crowing. I'm getting 20-30 eggs everyday now. We put a bunch oin the incubator and they're starting to hatch. We have 8 so far. More coming right quick.
All my garden stuff froze. Corn, squashes, pea, sunflowers, radish, salad greens, chives even. All the flowers and vegiies my 7 yr old baby girl and I planted....darn!!
Oh well. spend another buncha $$ for seed I guess. Start again.
K. Gona go back and catch up. May respond to some. Even if it's "late".

Umm husky/wolf size lol
Tall and lean thou
I think he's almost done growing tall, just filling out now
I'll measure him and get some pics later

Yes it certainly would be nice to have all'y'all get up this way.

True about the lab. Wolf and coyote as well for endurance, Mal. and Sib for
body and coat, greyhound and hunting dogs for speed, lab and other breeds for size, basically Alaskans are one big doggy stew.

Doggie stew. .
In the old ways there was a time make a stew/soup for the whole village. It was actually a very strict and beautiful ceremony where we honored the dog's loyalty to us.
That was before it was bastardized and condemned by some ppl that didn't comprehend it and decided it was evil or witch-craft or black-magic. LOL. I guess they never heard the term "Evil exists in the eye of the beholder". Also, aren't "witches" of the Wicken faith? And "black-magic"!?!?!? LOL.
But ya...Alaskan Husky is like me, a genetic melting pot.
