Hank won't run Single either :|
Aw.LOL. Persistence and perseverance help me over many hurdles.
Righto! By the sounds of it you're gona have need. I would like to help you out too but the only one I have that I am rehoming is Sparticus and Blue may be coming for him.
Dang eh. It seems you've been more of a pet owner to Nala than your brother has but that's what I've been shown so I can't really say for sure because I aint there. I can't help but feel for you tho'.
Dang again eh. Well if you're gona be having him around you may as well work with him. never know what can happen..... DO NOT give-up.

Yeah Nala's pretty much mine

Hank might not be staying much longer. He's been messing with cows and killing rabbits and chickens. Getting him a shock collar. I'm hoping it helps.
Aw.

Yeah. Even tough I know that according to some ppl's way of thinking "it's none of" my "business" I gota admit I feel the same way.

Quite some people have a misguided tendency to think it's in-humane to "do to dogs" what I do..... .....but my k9s aren't human so......
I think it's a nasty crappy thing to have dogs running loose eating cow pies and rabbit pellets and chicken guts as well as dirty diapers, drinking anti-freeze and septic slurry.
My dogs don't have the glory, the privilege or the fun times and health benefits of chasing cattle, killing chickens and rabbits or eating and drinking poop, pee and anti-freeze because,... well... you see...I hate them enough to keep them chained or kenneled or "on-line" working. I change the batteries in the chain every few days so it keeps working properly. It only costs $3.00 every time I change them.

Of course I'm being facetious when I say "glory", "privilege", "fun", "health", "hate", "batteries".
Here's where it may get hard to continue reading. Please know that if I didn't care I would not post what's coming up next.

My point is,... My dogs are huskyish, all of them. They will chase and kill pretty much anything. I have 22. That many can attack and kill an elephant.
I don't want them running loose killing and eating my stock and drinking from the sewage lagoon or sewage cistern or getting poisoned whilst re-visiting a dis-gruntled neighbor who put out a dish of anti-freeze baited with chicken stock to kill "stray dogs.
That's a horrible way to die. It essentially explodes the kidneys and stops all flow of fluids. They die from drowning in their own regurgitated poisoned fluids and bodily finction shutdown. They froth green at the mouth and whimper and whine and spasm and stumble blindly about till they eventually can't stand anymore and slowly drown in that froth when it turns red from the ruptured internal organs bursting. Geez, shooting them is way more "humane" but people do the antifreeze thing because it's the, Out of sight, out of mind! thing. Like such as "Eeww! I can't stand the sight of blood." or "Oh my! No! Not me! I can't shoot a dog."
Now the reason I am being so graphic is because people really need to see the reality of their in-ability to restrain their K9 buddies in a safe environment. We need to be made aware that no matter how much I care for and about my dog/s there is always gona be someone out there that doesn't give a rat's behind about my dog/s and would see him/her/them dead rather than pooping on his lawn or killing her chickens.
That, my girl, is a harsh reality.
It's cheaper, less stressful and actually kinder and more respectful to restrain/contain them.
Another thing we all need to consider is Guns don't kill people. People kill people. In the same way
Chains do not make dogs wicked .
A 20 foot chain affords 80% the square footage of a 40'X40' kennel and costs about 8% the cost of a "75% escape proof" kennel.
It's also more humane in that it actually invites more interaction with "familiar passers-by" as opposed to the closed in space of a kennel.

I hope you use what you can from this message to find positive methods for keeping Hank out of trouble . Or even use it to ask other people to assist you in keeping Hank safe from the human induced harsh repercussions of chasing and killing stock.
Good luck Rosie girl.

Half my flock of ducks died from drinking antifreeze. It was (unintentionally) left out by my grandpa; we're lucky no dogs or goats (they kinda roam free in the barn yard) drank any. Most people do not understand the predatory instincts dogs have. Only in most breeds, it has been bred out over so many generations. Plus, working dogs need to work. So if that means running off and chasing animals, that's what they will to. A lot of people don't get that unfortunately.

I don't want to get him a shock collar but it's that, put him down or sell him to someone that isn't around little kids and livestock :/
He's been staying on his chain but mom won't stop complaining about it! I'm actually starting to think maybe Hank shouldn't live here anymore :(

DANG! That's awful. We all make mistakes and the sad truth is sometimes it goes real bad.
Yes, working dogs have a higher energy thusly are essentially "harder to take care of" in that they require for us humans to be a little more active and/or on the ball with with how, when, where they are restrained/contained.

Oooops. I am "Edit"ing to put this in True that. Too True. We humans are most certainly an egocentric lot projecting our will upon creatures to the point that we can not seem to fathom that each different kind of animal has a different way of "thinking". We humans with apparently "much larger brains" somehow (most of us anyhow) are incapable of accepting that herbivores get killed by carnivores who eat the herbivores because that's what they do so we humanize animals and animalize humans. I think it's because we can control animals and can't control humans, or more specifically our own self.....apparently.

If that's what it takes to keep him.....
Again, some people may say it aint my business and maybe they're right, but....1)Does your mom want Hank to be gone fro the premises? 2)Does your mom disagree with chaining/tethering dogs?
Again, tethering aint inhumane, if you exercise him often enough and maybe even spend time with him playing, hunting, pulling logs home for the fireplace/furnace/woodstove. There is a lot of activities for a young lady or guy to do with a dog. All my best of the best friends I had were K9.They were the only ones that didn't ridicule me or mentally, physically, spiritually or sexually abuse me. On top of that they were always happy to see me. Plus they had enough energy to keep up to me. All my human friends wanted to do was drink booze or do some kinda drug or other, or lay around watching TV. My K9 buddies ran miles with me, hunted with me, helped me sit quiet and watch the sunrise, protected me from dangerous animals and humans, listened to my every word when I needed someone to listen to me, slept on my feet or even at my back when it was cold out(I spent lots of time outdoors), pulled my sled to go get groceries, firewood, haul home deer and elk, haul water. Not even my wife brought me as much comfort in hard times as my k9's, or for that matter listened quietly to my whining, bellyaching, happy jibes, yarning... She has never worked as hard as my dogs either,. No human I've ever known has worked that hard and/or loved it.

If you want Hank to stay you need to recognise there is so much that can be done and even some that actually needs to be done.
I hafta admit to you this makes me sad.

I hope things work out that you can keep him.

Has anybody been following the Idiatarod?
See what happened to Deedee Jonrowe?
I'm hoping Jessie Royer gets 2nd and Lance Mackey gets 1st. Just because Mackey is fighting cancer. If he wasn't, Jessie Royer would get my prayers to take 1st like a blast of polar wind far ahead of the 2nd place team.

My mom hates Hank. She never wanted him. My life's been a living hell with my parents since I got him. Mom doesn't like big dogs or outside dogs.
I'm going to work a ton with him. My mom keeps telling me sell him and get a smaller dog but I'm not going to.
My friends and nebiors got a 4-wheeler. I'm going to ask to use it maybe to get him tired out.
We go on walks everyday. I'll start jogging with him this spring. Maybe I'll start him on weight pulling too.
