I thought he was the neighbor. No, cuz we don't know where he lives.............
Nala's teats are getting bigger, and I think I felt a pup.![]()
He moved
An old man said to me one time long ago "if you shoot a moose don't go up to it and shoot it again." I told him if its wounded I'd wana put it out of it's misery. He then responded "If it's hit good and it's down it's gona die. Don't go waste a bullet. Just walk away and sit for awhile. Pray. Thank God for your good fortune.. Don't walk up up to and stand there and shoot it in cold blood then stand there to watch it die. It could wound your spirit. Besides even if you don't have that respect for your own self at least respect that animal. How'd you like it if I came up to watch you as you died? God made that animal too, not only just you. That animal has pride too."
That said, I have hunted since I was 5 yrs old. That coupled with living on a farm has shown me a lot of transitions from living to dead. That old man was, and still is right.
I don't know how you people down south that way feel about what I just said but I think I need to ask y'all a hard question here.
With all due respect, Would you like for a total stranger look at you and watch you giving birth? Are you gona breast feed when you have children? How would you like for me to watch you do that?
To hopefully give you a more personal understanding..... I was with my wife during 3 births. I had the honour to greet into this world a son, a daughter and another daughter. My wife is a pretty strong and open minded woman but she didn't want an audience. She didn't want me at the business end for the first 2. Only when the the youngest was born I actually had to help the doctor because we were the only people with my wife. So my presence at the business end was "kind of" tolerated just because I was necessary.
Even though I am interested and even excited about Nala expecting puppies I don't want or need to see her giving birth. Seen that kind of stuff lots on the farm...with animals that were known to me....
I know this ain't "my" thread and it's not my intention to rain on anyones parade, I'm asking here now that if someone feels it is necessary that pix be published please think about maybe PMs could be requested.
It may sound weird to some people and may even conflict with some's beliefs to hear that level of respect for "just a dog" but nonetheless.......my dogs have quite literally saved my life at least 2x directly and quite a few more times indirectly as well as be my best and sometimes only friend for many years.
That's awful. He left his dog when he moved? That's just freakin awful.
When I moved 450 miles I took my whole team of 12 with me. As a matter of fact I made sure they were safe and sound before I followed them. I shipped them to a friend who owns a kennel.
Actually I lied. I hitchhiked with Musskwah, my fave, because i ran short of cash for the bus. LOL. We got a ride too.
I would never leave my dogs anywhere for anyone.
Well said.![]()
Neither would I. I have three pet dogs that mean lots to me. When my family moved from Idaho to Montana, we took all our horses and dogs. If I had to choose my animals over my family, 9 times out of 10, I would choose the animals (mainly because they don't judge me and couldn't care less if I did something weird ((in my family's eyes, wanting to learn how to mush, or raising chickens, is weird)).
