Sure! Go right on ahead. Maybe if I ever breed my future Tala I will name one of her pups Nala. That would be confusing for me though, if they looked anything alike. I would be like: "Nala! I mean Tala! No, wait, Nala!"

Yeah, Siberians seem much easier to find than Alaskans. Even if I have to ship pups. I've only found one breeder of Alaskans but they don't ship dogs and they keep all their pups until they are 1 year old to see if they make their team. If I ever do get to have a team, that would probably be my dream team. Do you have a picture of Meringue? She sounds like my goofy Lab/Dane (Rowdy). He will steal an empty water bottle from your hand and go off like 20 feet to then chew on the bottle. He is silly and kinda dumb, but lovable all the same.

If you can, Go to race to the Sky. They have lots of Alaskan husky breeders. Also unlike Siberians, Alaskans will come home if they can, if they run off.
This is Meringue my Alaskan Husky.

She stole my phone and hid it when i took the last pic.

When we moved we left our fish and our belongings at our old hose to get the dogs settled in first. Lol
The pet store people lied and said the fish would live, our fish died all 60 of them! We were MAD!!

Aww. That's horrible to hear. I'm sorry for your loss.
Lotsa times people who work in certain "things" have a tendency to speak before they think. Either that or they know exactly what they're doing and are just making business for themselves. That's 60 fish they would sell you now.

No,I just had to know what it meant I love dogs but I'm just not interested in that sport :)

Actually it's NOW mostly just a sport. But even just recently in my area it was the only form of transportation during winter because we were too poor to afford snowmobiles. Also, horses couldn't go where the dog teams could. I still use my team for hunting and hauling wood as well as family recreation for my kids. I also "outfit" for ecotourists when they come by this way.
The word MUSH has it's origins from(arguable) different backgrounds.
Some say its an English bastardization of the French word "marche" which translates to,well.... "march".
Some say it is from the Cree word "Maachaan" which translates to a "call for physical action to move ahead" depending on tone of voice could be an encouragement, an order or a strong request.... a lazy way to translate it to English is simply GO.
MUSH was customarily the universal word used to command a dog team to move ahead.
On a personal note .... Tis a pity you aren't interested in mushing. It's a many faceted activity with skijoring, carting, sledding, biking making it a four season outdoor physical activity. Emotional, physical, mental and even spiritual well being can be assisted greatly by the "sport". Even people in speciLly designed sporting wheelchairs enjoy it.

Lead or Swing.

Do you remember me telling y'all about my leader Okimaw? He lead my sled teams for 14 winters from his second to his 16th winter. He would've been 17 years old if he lived a few more weeks.
Pronounced OOOO-KEE-MAAoooo. 1 that is chosen to preceed others because of his/her wisdom, gentle ways, intelligence, hardworking ethics, and willingness to proceed with such.
Team dog could be called Atim. Pronounced aahTIHm. There's a long story for that too but in short and according to the English impatience "dog".
Pipaystin-Cree for "a snowdrift". Pronounced pihPAYStin
Pipoon-Cree for "Winter". Pronounced PIHpoohn
Neepawin-Cree for he/she/it is already (as opposed to in the process of) "Standing". Pronounced NEEpaaWIN.

If you do chose Okimaw and especially as a lead I would be so very honoured. Mine was a good dog that many mushers would've envied.

Unfortunately Americano Blue is just about 100% correct. It seems the inbreeding that's happened for generations has lend unto them the propensity to just go and not come home. You need to remember that most of today's Sibes are from Leonhard Seppalla's original teams. That's not a big gene pool. On top of that some of the foundation females were very shy and reclusive. So because people wanted cookie cutter looks and "Siberian Husky" dogs we ended with something rather like FASD crossed with egocentricity, not any real loyalty. But they are pretty.
The original Sibes however were a different story. But it would be a very very expensive undertaking to aquire original "Chuckchi" dogs.
Alaskan huskies seem to be more of a home finding dog. But they are still a dog that requires a lot of exercise to be really happy, not unlike the Sibe, one of the original bloodlines in the Alaskan.
And yes they are still 99.8% mitochondrialDNA identical to the Wolf, a carnivore.
