Americuana chick with overbite (with pictures)

Unfortunately my chick passed away. She just couldn't get the nourishment she needed. Her lower beak also had some issues going on, it was very short and almost seemed like it was broken behind the skin. There was an old thread with a chick with the same problem and I got ahold of the person who started it, in 2014 I think. She also lost her chick. With that said, that doesn't have to be the outcome of your chick. If you have the time you can try hand feeding, which could possibly work. I've even found people doing feeding tubes for chicks with beak deformities. Unfortunately it's a somewhat common thing. You should see if her lower beak seem abnormally small, or if anything is wrong with it. If not she should have a much greater chance at making it!

I had a similar case with an easter egger baby chick.
I tried to cut his beak a bit and fed him with soft food, but week after week her/his situation got worse, eventually his tongue did not fit in his mouth and created lump to his throat. Then he/she stopped eating and was weak and smaller than other, so I had to put him down. My first culling. I might be a bit sensitive, but I still have nasty flashbacks of that.

I'm sorry. I don't know what else to do. You just have to try and see how it goes. I hope you will be lucky.

I have a scissor beaked ee. She eats as soon as I feed them and shovels it down her throat. Her top beak is very bird of prey looking. I'm going to get a rotary dog nail file and try grinding it down she is 16 weeks. Her beak didn't start growing curved until about a month ago.

I've been giving him/her baby food and making sure it's getting enough water. It's little nostrils keep getting clogged from the food when it dips it's beak in it. I use the Vetrx stuff and keep the nostrils clean and just hope it survives. I've had 2 others with leg problems that had to be culled and I had to have my husband do it...... Breaks my heart!
