Amerucana variety....HELP

Ideal Poultry sells EE's, not Ameraucanas. If you read the description there, it specifies that they can lay a variety of egg colors, whereas an Ameraucana will only lay blue eggs. There is no 'Easter Egg Breed', though I suspect that most Easter Eggers - called that due to the variety of egg colors possible (as I understand it) - are crossbreeds of Ameraucana or Araucana.

Personally, I like this write-up on the matter:

EE's are wonderful birds, but they are not a registered breed. I have three, and I'm very fond of them; the woman who sold them to me insisted that they were purebred Ameraucanas. I knew they were not, but I was quite happy to pay $7 each for some lovely EE pullets.

EE are mixed breeds. Usually with a brown egg layer and a blue egg layer. You know when you are buying the real thing when you are buying a specific color like blue, black, wheaten. Also real ameracaunas(however it’s spelt) are costly usually $20-40 a chick so if your only spending a couple dollars it’s an EE.
Could I enter her as a "backyard bird" group (mixed breed)? and if so would I still put down "Easter Egger" as the breed?

The reason most hatcheries sell birds labeled as americana, ameraucana or what have you that are considered by others as EEs is because they've been doing it loooong before the ameraucana became a breed.
Breeders standardized the birds and got them accepted by the APA and they became a breed.
Now if you were raising and selling birds label as such and then others got them accepted and decided theirs were ameraucana and yours should be called Easter egger instead how quick would you jump and change the name of your birds that you had decades before them and that they used to create their standard from?

If I were to show my Easter Eggers, that is how I would do it. When it comes to mixed breeds what are they looking for? There's no standard, no list of criteria to check off.

Out of curiosity, is this a 4H thing? I'm wondering because your so keen on showing her.

Yes it is. I am showing the rest of the group she came in and was worried about leaving her alone with the just integrated other flock for a week and a half.

That is a good article. I printed it off so I could study it. I am not sure why Ideal leaves that on their page, I had read their description looking for Ameraucana, so I knew they were Selling EE's. Can be so confusing.

Meyer Hatchery is selling actual Blue Ameraucana chicks, from the looks of it. They specify the breed and mention that it is genuine blue-egg laying Ameraucana - $20-something a chick. Their EE's are listed specifically as EE's.

Technically, I could probably claim that two of my EE's were Ameraucana, and get away with it. One is blue, with muffs and beard; she has red leakage on her back, but is clearly blue. The other is not a registered Ameraucana color, but she's one that's being worked on; Splash. She's essentially white with light blue 'splashes' all over her, with muffs and beard. The third one doesn't even come close! However... I know they're EE's. The pen I got them from had some of everything color-wise. There was a very nice lavender in there, and I told the woman I wanted that one - she couldn't catch it, and I'm happy with the three I've got.
