Okay so I am getting 2 Amherst Pheasants tonight, I have NEVER dealt with Pheasants before..
Can someone please tell me what I need to know? ( I would rather get the info here with personal experiances then to google it with these birds)

TIA

They need to be in a covered pen away from chickens. They need to be wormed 2 times a year. They need a roost and a place to get out of the elements, not that they will use it,but if they want to it should be available to them. They love fruits, veggies, peanits, mealworlm, crickets, wild bird seed etc.You can house multiple males in a cage as long as there are no hens around them.If you plan to breed them, have at least 3 hens for your male as they can be aggressive breeders. What else do you need to know?

Definitely provide extra cover for the hen or get an extra hen or two (it may be easier to judge the purity of a breeder's stock by looking at the males), and give them as large a pen as possible both for the hen's safety and to help the male keep his long tail feathers in good shape.

Mine do fine as a trio. With goldens I know you can house multiple males and females togeather during the breeding season ( seen it done many times) my yellow goldens came from a flock of about 20 hens and 8 roos.
