I just noticed a broken egg in the nesting box. I know which hen it came from. I’m looking to find out if amoxicillin can be appropriate for now.
I do have PenG Penicillin but I don’t have a needle to administer. She is up walking around but walking very slow.
All my birds are on an appropriate layer feed diet with oyster shells as free choice.
Any information would be greatly appreciated 💕

A broken egg be box she's not mean it broke inside her. Was the egg shell-less?

The broken egg is in the box. My concern is she is still acting slow and not like herself. Therefore I feel there is a high possibility that she has content left inside.
I don’t want her to die from going Septic. I don’t eat their eggs so there is so concern there.
Typically she is a hen I can’t get near she will always squawk and do a little freak out. This morning I can pet and pick her up. I can see liquid egg contents on her Butt fluff. That is why I’m positive it’s coming from her.

Usual amoxicillin dose is 57mg per pound of bird weight, twice a day. It is usually well tolerated and I have given higher doses than that on occasion. I generally empty the capsule and mix in a little softened coconut oil and then freeze til firm, and then give like a custom pill, goes down easy usually. If it flattens out before it freezes, just break it in pieces and give all the pieces in that dose. I would also recommend giving her some calcium citrate once a day for a day or two, that will help her with contractions and help her hopefully expel anything that may be remaining inside, or if there is a second egg in the pipeline that may have been delayed by the first.
