I just got two goslings today and was given a packet of "vitamins" that I was told I needed to give them every day for their first month. The packet contains amoxycillin, vitamin A and vitamin D3. My gut tells me that there is no way giving healthy goslings a preventative dose of antibiotics is a good idea, but I wanted to check with you guys to make sure as this is my first time with geese.

Your gut is absolutely right!

The only vitamin supplement goslings need with a balanced diet is niacin.

That's what I thought. What's the intended purpose of feeding healthy goslings antibiotics?

All I can think of is letting the antibiotics manufacturer make money. And creating penicillin-resistant bacteria, thus ensuring even more money on the next product.

Oh, and in farming factories: letting you raise goslings under unhealthy - and cheaper - conditions; ensuring more money for the factory owner.
