An animal attacked "Fort Chicken" today!

I fixed all the damage that I could but it is very visible where the damage was. It came back one more day and ruined 20 feet of perimeter fence! I haven't had any issues except those two days. Trail camera is up now and so far have only gotten a deer (which obviously didn't attack my coop). I am just so happy that all my predator proofing worked!

About 10 feet of skirting was damaged beyond fixing, here is some of the salvaged. As you can see a whole line of welded wire was torn right off.

Looks like it was rammed here

Badly damaged chain link

Twisted chain link

I had to fix the welded wire run-cover where the animal got up on top.

Claw marks!

That's excellent. If it was coons, you have managed to convince them that your chickens aren't worth the trouble. They will casually check from now on

but won't waste effort trying to access what their experience tells them is inaccessible.

Any more attacks? What ever attacked you sure was hungry and determined but it was deff. not a bear. I've seen what bears do to chicken coops. I went to pick up some chickens from a guy in the mountains who had just had a bear attack a week before. It completely caved in on side of his chain link fence and tore up part of the wall/roof of his coop.

I had a coon problem put i put my german shepherd and pit mix out with the chickens and nothing has been dumb enough to even get close to the fence.

I would suspect coyotes. The cats being very afraid make be believe that because coyotes eat cats. They are a problem here and do the same damage as you describe. Neighbors lose cats and small dogs to the coyotes. They are becoming used to humans and show little fear of them.

I suspected coyotes as well, or a wandering dog. I haven't had any more attacks and the trail camera has showed nothing but deer. Bears definately would have done a lot more damage that what was done, they are so powerful!
