I am sorry but I have to disagree with you. Hawks haven’t swooped down on my free ranging flock for a while. So these methods work.Hello! Please don’t depend on this to keep hawks away. It doesn’t work. A better option is to have lots of hiding places and cover in your yard. Shrubs, old tables, old chairs, playhouses, even a debris pile. Things like this keep the hawks from being able to swoop through the yard and carry off flock members. It also provides places for your flock to hide if/when a hawk does come to visit. I’ve had at least one black chicken the entire time I’ve been chickening and the hawks don’t care. They still come around from time to time.

Thanks for the article. It would be wonderful if this was true. I use the "keep the chickens in a large secure pen" method with free ranging only when I am within 10 feet of them. 8 years with no losses. This is a very helpful article that I found helpful to keep hawks away. Check it out!

I've seen the Mockingbirds sitting on the top of my chicken coop liked they owned it. I kinda spill the feed when taking it to the coop. It doesn't go to waste lolWow really? That is pretty cool!
