I'm so excited! It's tiny but awesome! I was surprised because they're only 4.5 months old, but there it was when I went in to change their water! I think it was Stampy, our buff orp. Her comb got really red recently.
First eggs are the most ridiculously pleasing thing ever!
Still waiting on my six month Cochins to start, but have experienced the glory of first eggs before, and no matter how many hens start laying, the usually tiny, generally soft-shelled first egg is always super exciting!
How many hens have you got? That's really young to start laying!
It is super fun and exciting! Mine just started laying too. There's a First Egg thread with thousands of first egg pics on there. I posted pics on there, but here's another one of an egg in the Tidy Cat litter bucket nest box.
We've got four, all different breeds. It turns out it was our EE. I found a brown one yesterday, so now we've got 2 layers at 5 months! We must be doing something right!
