So a funny little story, not about our own flock, but a neighbors...
She used to keep ducks down at their lobster shed until one night they all mysteriously vanished shortly after a new neighbor who's wife had a phobia of foul moved in next to the place where they kept them.
Missing her birds she thought she'd try chickens, and now has two buff Orpingtons in her backyard.
Recently the more dominant of the two has gone broody, and so she thought it might be fun to let her have a clutch, just like her ducks used to. She got some fertile eggs and low and behold a beautiful baby chick hatched yesterday morning to which we were invited to come see as she often asks us all her chicken care questions.
A sweet situation for sure!
However the other hen is so perplexed as to what's going on with her flock mate, and when I told my husband he said 'of course she is! Her virgin sister just hatched a baby, she's having an 'egg-sistential' crisis!
