An Entire Frog-Really? Pullet downed a big frog!

We have our "go to" girls who will eat almost anything that moves, the others are in it for the chase I guess but are too slow to down a few things, so the 2 fastest girls swoop in and steal the goodies all the time.

Most will eat the grapes, some like the insides, some the skins, but watching them take a whole grape or frog is quite the imagery! Crickets and dragonflies are a fan favorite as well, ants, beetles and most things slimy(including worms) are a Hard Pass.:sick

Mine feast on whole live crabs off the beach all day long, it's shocking how many pounds of crab they eat.
I dare not tell my girls about this or there could be a revolt, since they only get access to yucky bugs and such! :)

Lucky chickens you have!

A few days ago I was trying to catch a small frog by the chicken coop. Well it hopped into the coop and the chickens ate it. Not a very smart move! I have also seen them devour mice. Idk how those big mice even fit down their throats but they manage. Oh and I forgot to mention they also eat dead small fish and crayfish. One time when we were cleaning the pond out, there was a bunch of goldfish that died do I fed them to the chickens and they loved them.

I caught the tail end ( 😆 ) of one of my ducks eating either a large mouse or a frog - something long and wiggly dangling from her mouth and then one last big gulp and it vanished! My chickens are too busy eating all my hostas to hunt live prey, though I've caught a couple staring longingly at songbirds.
