An excuse to talk chicken with yaw'll . . . flock plans

My 20 ship 8/3; they don't say when they'll arrive. Due to space constraints I would
not be disappointed if only my order shows up. :D But, I would not complain if there were one there (I suspect Hoover ain't about the extra chick scene). That would mean coop no. 2 would show up waaaay earlier than financially anticipated.

Usually 2 days if all goes well.

Oh waaait, snaps, they're here!!!!!!! Uwwwwwwwww. I just wanaa come over and play. Wait, Raleigh, you're not too far away; only a couple hundred miles m a y b e!!!
I actually used to live in Elizabeth City and I took my kids a few years ago to the outer banks and it took me less than a day straight drive 🤣

So, ok, explain the "of course". Is that normal? What's up. I'm excited to hear ahem read about it.
Cackle anyways sends extras when you order. My last order of 15 turned to 18. So I got 3 extra. It’s in case you loose any really. Normally you get a boy thrown in there or more. So I was expertly 3 boys with my 15 but only got 1. I’m pretty sure all hatcheries do….I could be wrong.

McMurray I ordered 14 and got 14, declined the extra chick but wasn’t sure if they would send an “insurance” pullet. We had 7 chicks I hatched at the same age and didn’t want to risk one more roo. (Looks like 3 of the 7 are roos so far at 5 weeks…between aunts & uncles we can keep 3 so praying no one else “turns into” a cockerel 😂 otherwise he will be named Stew-ie”.

Ideal I ordered 10 and got 10. I did have a few very commonly overhatched breeds in that order so not getting an extra surprised me.

Both were this summer. Luckily I had no losses. I was surprised as I figured most hatcheries would send a “just in case” chick.

Good luck 😂! I wanted a little guy for this breed. I am happy to have gotten the extras…later on I may not be. 😂

Your birds are very pretty!
I have two Plymouth Barred Rocks named Joleen and Cammi! It's supposed to be a friendly breed, but those two are very skittish and bratty. 🙄
I’m from the South Shore of Boston, so I *had* to get some Plymouth rocks! I also heard they were friendly and good w kids, but mine were total beehotches!!! lol and they’d stand on the ramp from the coop to the run and SCREAM at the top of their lungs when they laid 😂 had to rehome them to another flock, but they had two hatchling sisters there already and they’re super happy. but oh man, they were so crazy!!! they were excellent layers, though. miss that!

They sounded fun to have!
Definetly more fun than mine.
