My husband and I moved to Redding, CA a year ago from Gold Canyon, AZ. We bought a nice older home with an awesome view of the Trinity Alps and have been renovating it. We are so happy to be living in a beautiful, green area where we can grow vege's and yes, (even though we're inside the city limits) have chickens. We've never done anything like this before. My husband and I built our coop and it is working out well. We had to add some roost bar inside since we were originally only going to have 4 chickens, but ended up with 6. We have 2 Rhode Island Reds (Ruby & Lucy), 2 Black Copper Marans (Nicole (Nickki) & Evette), and 2 "Mixed Breed" chickens (Molly & Goldie). So, that's our little family. They are all 3 to 4 months old (so we've been told). So far it has been a fun adventure. I'm happy to be able to get advice from so many other chicken owners. Here are some pictures of our coop and girls.
Loving Northern California!
