Hello duck people,
I have been a lurker for a long time and am now hatching my first batch of duck eggs. Tomorrow is day 28 and I took them out of auto turner monday night. They have been at aprox 65% humidity (with some fluxuations) until then and now up around 75%
I had one pip yesterday about noon and found him this morning mostly out of the shell but stuck to the floor of the incubator. The membranes seemed very dry and tough. I sprayed with warm water and unglued him from the floor and continued to spray and he is out.
His buddies however are not. One has a pip this morning. I candled and can see beaks in air sacs. I suspect they are too dry?
These guys have had a tough road. Dirty on arrival with a brief power outage that required them to move to a diesel garage for the night. All in all I think they dropped just below 90 degrees for about an hour or two.
Should I continue to SIT TIGHT as I see from the forums is a requirement of duck hatching? or is there anything else I can do?
thanks! loving ducks!
