Ducks or chickens?
No experience with ducks but I like the chicken breed. Pretty mottled bird, good layer and light enough to be efficient feed wise.
I think any chicken can be tamed to be a pet but anconas, being Mediterranean egg breeds, tend to be a little more flighty than heavier breeds.

Ancona chickens are awesome, but maybe not "pets". Mine were free-ranging and did great. They were very watchful of predators and excellent at getting their own food -needing minimal supplement of laying feed. They were flighty and active as mentioned but would eat out of my hand if I brought a treat. Once they started laying I was getting eggs daily. In the end I lost them to my own dog getting loose. I would definitely have the breed again in the future. I don't think they would be a breed to keep penned all the time.

Ancona ducks are pretty but I have no experience with them.

Mine are fairly friendly, but probably wouldn't let me hold them. Curious. Louder than any other chicken in my pen.

They're fun, though, I like them.

Another thing to like is that they're hardy for both heat and cold. In spite of the huge comb I have never had frostbite down to about 0 F. We had lots of days last year over 100 and they did fine but the heat took out a Welsummer.
