And a new headache appears! *happily updated*

I ditched the property search in favor of getting out of here ASAP. I found local two bedroom apartments for only $500 a month, all utilities paid, and we can take our two kitties with us! I'm faxing in the last bit of paperwork today for the application. If all goes as planned, we'll be out of here by the end of the month.

An update: June 1st is our move in date! This Friday, I'm sending in my $200 deposit. I am so excited!

However, with good fortune always come some bad. The transmission on my car went out. I have about $1,060 in cash, and am trying to get at least $500 out of my car. I found a vehicle for $2000, and if I'm able to get rid of my old car (which actually runs beautifully, minus the transmission) within a week or so, I'll take out a small personal loan to pay for the rest and have another vehicle to drive.

The local junk yards only want to give me 200-300 for my car. To me, that is terrible because that car drove like it was brand new. I took excellent care of it, the body is clean, the interior is spotless, I even replaced the tires, alternator, and a lot of other things to keep it working great. Just a word of advice: if a mechanic says "Oh your transmission is fine, the way it slips is normal for this particular car". Get a second opinion. I listened to that mechanic and my transmission is now shot. I knew something was up with it, but silly me, I listened to him and didn't trust my gut instinct. Oh well. Lesson learned I suppose.

It's still not enough to ruin my joy of finally getting out of this crazy house.

I am happy for you. But don't give up on your property search. I am always amazed at what turns up when I least expect it.
