In the past 3 years I have had 2 hens set...a total of 2 times. No luck, (6 chicks, never made it past 2 weeks) now that I'm expecting 15 new babies my last RIR is setting...I know this because when I tried to sneak the eggs out from under her she tried to peck me, and she is a sweety...go figure huh?? I've been watching all day to see if she comes out, she has yet to take a break...
Sounds like my kind of luck. I'm going to break down and buy a bator because my hens refuse to set. Betcha I have a bunch of broodies the day the bator arrives.
When my turken went broody I had to put the feed and water right under her nose because she never left the nest. I even had to scoop the poop from behind her
