We are going to cover the holes on the ground with dirt. We don't have possums here, and I have 3 cats that are excellent hunters. One of them even catches snakes!! My brothers had a coop built on the ground and never had problems.

Thanks so much for sharing your build! How exciting!! Can't wait to see more progress, and of course, the finished product!! Do you have pictures of your babies?

Thanks! It should be ready for chickens today! My babies aren't so much "babies" anymore... they are 8 weeks old!! So I'm VERY ready for them to be out of my garage!!! I will get some recent pics when I get my camera back from my sister. I should be able to post a couple from my phone today though!

Haha... yeah... when DH started, he said he was going to build it so that a tractor (a big, farming tractor) could pick it up and put it on a trailer to move it... yeah- THAT'S not gonna happen!!! It will be VERY solid when its finished!! I guess that's what happens when you have someone who worked in construction for 4 years build your coop!

Maybe with a trailer for an Earthmover!!! That baby is there to stay!!

The chickies spent their first night in their new coop last night!!! Its is such a relief to have them out of the garage!!! I will post pictures as soon as I get my camera back!!! The coop isn't "finished"- just finished enough to put the chicks in (now that they are 9 weeks old!!!). Its a work in progress, and as soon as we get a little money saved up, we're going to finish it.
