one of my cornish X pullets, 20 weeks old. Been getting random eggs for two weeks, one here and there. Heard the egg song but couldn't catch anyone in the process. Frustrating that is.

So today I managed to catch one in the act. A cornish X pullet. Makes sense now that the eggs haven't been in the nestboxes; the CXs being entirely clueless and all that.

ETA this footnote - "clueless" being a nice way of saying dumber than a box of rocks.

Well, there haven't been any Grown Up Cornish X ladies where she came from to give any of 'em the Word about laying! No Momma CXs (much less Gramma CXs) to say, "When I was a pullet...."

That is SO cool, Kat! Your rescue meaties are producing eggs!!!

Yeah it is cool. I don't think I'll ever see fertile eggs from them either. Ollie is equally clueless about what his role is in the whole mating process.

That clueless thing, 'Bless their hearts' is why I always called all of my meaties "Baby Huey"
