Is there any way to tell the difference between a black andalusian pullet and a minorca? Reading online, I saw no difference between leg colors, and it even said that andalusians used to be called "blue minorcas." I have a black McMurray pullet with white earlobes, about 16wks old, who is the same size as my white leghorn. She came in a batch of "rainbow layers." She is shiny black, with green and purple iridescence. It doesn't make any difference what she is, andalusian or minorca, but I am curious if there is any way to tell. Her comb is much smaller than my same-age white leghorn pullet, and is nowhere near ready to flop over yet.

Any ideas?

The female minorca's comb should get large enough to flop over. I do no have minorca and the only difference I know of is the size of the bird. Minorca should be larger. Thats my two cents.

Thanks Tim, I'll just keep watching her
