All 10 of my brahmas are on the low end of pecking order and mine a about 4 months old too. They are sweet. I would give her some special treats. Mine love pasta or bread or anything really lol
The only time I've had "attack" brahmas were when they were penned in a small area and I reached into "their" space. Try giving them more room and letting them come out to you. Also, make sure you aren't wearing red nail polish.
what you are describing does not sound like agression to me. My birds peck, and hard! But it is not out of agression, but more out of exhuberant curiosity to see what yummy thing I have brought them.
My speckled sussex Snow used to peck at her hatch mate's toes so hard they would screech...she did the same with pant legs and painted toe nails and finger nails. To me, it sounds like she is just being nosey...maybe try to re-direct her attention. I have used operant conditioning on my birds for various things including pecking too hard! I have one black copper marans in particular I am still working with, but all the others are doing very well.
Give her something to do...she may be bored as well. Does she have a favorite treat? Lay down a picnic blanket, and have a seat. Ignor her or push her away when she pecks, the moment she stops and looses interest in pecking, give her a treat. Increase the ammount of time from not pecking you to getting her treat. Eventually, she will associate "good" behavior with yummy things. Yes, chickens can be trained.
My Brahma likes me to take her picture and chuck with her or she'll come after me. She hates my oldest son. Always after him. She's the boss. She also looks after our other chickens. First in or out of the coop and keeping watch when the others head to the coop to lay their eggs. She can be aggressive. I love her. I just got a 2nd.
I have 2 brahmas roosters and 1 hen and all 3 are dorcile and friendly.Have not seen any bad behaviors.I like your smiley how do u get them.hope your brahams will start behaving how old are they mine are 15 weeks old.
My Light Brahma could never be accused of being gentle. She is not mean, but if she's eating out of my hand or anytime food is involved she is really rough and strong.
