Animal attacked my Rouen...not sure what to do.

She carries on...I should have updated, but I have been busy getting ready for trip and taking care of her...she has gained a little weight and is 4.9 lbs.

I caught some minnows from pond and dug a mini pond to put them in, so far she likes it but has not really gotten into it.

Thursday will be tough. Lol

I am going to clean out the rest of porch and that will be here Thursday / Friday home...

She is still to weak. She can't even scratch her cheek...and she is not able to oil herself yet...so either oil production is low or she can not reach her wings...

No real change. She is not happy about being seperated but she is healing. Not eating enough.

Holding steady on weight, but she is still in the supermodel side of things.

On edit: If I did not have drakes that were feeling their oats and jumping someone every half hour, she could go back today.

Do you think maybe you should do some more tube feeding? It is going to take a while for her to be 100% healed that was a nasty attack, just a miracle she even survived at all.

I don't want to feed her that way when she is eating. She is just being mad. If I am present all she does is want to get out. If I leave, she settles down into a routine. Eat, drink, walk around, quack a few times...etc. she is healthy, just has that exposed skin on her back and she is not putting enough oil on her feathers. She gained some, but she paces a lot and I feel that the meal to rest ratio is off due to stress.

She got in her micro pond and went after it. So she is feeling much better and I got a full 8 flaps today after she ate.

:th:hugsYes, my apologies. :hugs

I am learning her behavior and she is an actress.

I had to leave this morning before she ate the first time. Before that all I got was stumble stumble quack quack...once I caught her eating, she was ok if I was around.,.so, I am so clueless with her, she eats and maintains weight with all the new activities I am sure if she got back to the Forage/sleep/play cycle she would gain weight faster, but I don't really know...lol.

I am not sure when to release. Her wound seems to have healed over ok, but she has made a mess of it as she delicately cleans it now herself. I spray it each day. No more antibiotics. No more oozing. Dry.

For the first time in a week she tucked her bill in her wing.

Thank you again Mrs Lydia...you have been an awesome help, just providing updates forces me to assess more closely. That is worth more than I can express. :frow
