Animal blankets **Pic Heavy**

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She was crocheting blankets for us all too during that time. Must be something healing about it. My step dad died of brain cancer sept.1 of this year while they were visiting us. Cancer is scary and I am so happy to hear that you are recovering. Please go to all your check ups and stay on top of your health. My mom is recovering from breast cancer and I am so thankful to God that she is still here with us. It really makes you appreciate the small things in life, And the huge things like your babies. Bless you and wishing you many years of health and lots of kiddy hugs in your future

Wow, HSM l love the card. I was told during my treatments that they now consider breast cancer a chronic illness and it is not the death sentence it used to be. That is probably true, but I was dying from major mistakes in my treatment, not the actual illness. I am really glad your mom is doing better. I can tell you, there is life after cancer. I have top docs and all my scans have been perfectly clear. I go again in March 08 and then in March of 09 it will be my 5 year, all clear date. I can't wait.

yay that your all clear date is so near. my mom still has a little ways to go for hers. she was a breast cancer nurse and then got it herself. imagine. she has been doing well with it though. she chose a mastectomy very early in treatment because of all the stuff she'd seen as a nurse. my ex had some horrible mistakes in treatment too. it is weird that there are so many parts to an illness that make it hard beyond the illness itself. we used to always say, if it was ONLY the illness and not the beauracracy, mistakes, ignorance, etc.

It is so weird that it used to be a disease of the 50's then 40' then 30's and now it is considered a disease for women in their 20's. And they estimate that in the next 10 years it will be prevalent for women (girls) in their teens. Scarey. I tell every woman I know to do their monthly self exams. I am a nurse too on a surgical floor and we get lots of cancer patients. It is a horrific disease. I am very glad it is in my rear view mirror.

Here are a few breast cancer facts. The fight against breast cancer has made huge strides and their are more women surviving breast cancer than ever before. You best chance at being a survivor is early detection so everyone should do monthly self exams.
