Animal control issue, what to do? Iowa

I was originally told it was okay, now they have an ordinance that says I have to have an acre. I have no idea if or when it was changed though.

I would'nt send the chickens away until you are told to by animal control. Just ignore the fool and go on with your routine. Sending your chickens away or changing your routine will just inspire him.
One in every neighborhood? You bet, he lives right beside me and your pain in the rear is an amatuer compared to him.

What I was considering was building an 8foot privacy fence on the side of my garage, and keep them hidden(think wisconsin lol) the neighbor on that side actually asked me to raise 3 for her as a gift to her niece lol. They think chickens are wonderful. When her three escaped my yard and went at her worms she thought they were just the cutest thing. Our yard is a .25 of an acre so there is a bit of room. One person commented if you can have 12 on an acre that MUST mean you can have 3 on my size lot lol. I think I will send them to a friends, get the fence up, call animal control and ask them to come get one of these darn stray cats and when they come happen to show them they are all gone. One of the ladies is a friend of mine so... Her mom was going to take them for a bit if I got a complaint to let things cool off. You know what, I am going to 8 foot privacy fence the whole yard and leave a lower area on the sides where I like my neighbors lol. Do you think they will be quiet enough? Dora is a buff orp, Moe is a crested Polish but is leaving to go live with his family soon as I am thinking BOY far too pretty to be a girl, girls are never that pretty. Becky is a khaki campbell. Our neighbor is picking up her 3 later today so they are not a concern. I still cant believe he called on the dog but not the chickens??? I just worry that someday I will hear it ya know?

Now, animal control specifically said they cant remove an animal, that the police have to and they are far too busy even to remove a starving animal half the time it seems do you think she was trying to say it was okay and dont worry about it?

Yup. If animal control had a problem with your chickens they would have said so during the inspection and might have given you a citation.

Awesome sorry, the whole pets and family and living in a home is still kind of new and I am still learning how it all works lol grew up in apartments and rentals getting evicted every 6 months and never had a pet more than 3 -4 months growing up but now have a whole house full(well the cat and the parakeet finally passed). I am going to start volunteering out there too, I think that will make them less likely to ever do anything lol.

You know..when we were stationed up in Maine we weren't allowed to have pets at all. So I got an incubator and raised button quail. I know it's not the same, but it does give you that little thrill of hatching something then having it lay eggs for you. You can keep them in a bird cage (we did!), they don't make a ton of noise and you can pickle the little eggs! I've even got the funniest pics of when my daughter made deviled eggs with them! I know getting rid of the birds is heartbreaking, but you don't have to get out of it all together...

Just for a while. When will you guys get transferred again, or are you stationed there permantently?
