Hi just curious, I bought some domestic bird grit ( b/c I'm out of regular, and can't go until tomorrow afternoon to get more). The kind I bought is granite, mixed with calcium, charcoal, and anise oil. It's meant for cockatiels, parakeets and such. Is this ok for hens?

I read anise is an appetite stimulator and is attractive to birds. Your chickens might love it!

I also bought small bird mineralgrit for baby bantam silkies. It seems the same size grit as MannaPro chick grit. They both have smaller and larger pieces. The mineral grit is oyster shells crushed. The MannaPro chick grit just says "grit" with added probiotics. I decided to mix them together to avoid excess calcium.
