So I spent $40 on hatching eggs from someone on eBay and less than half were fertile, bought 10 eggs she sent 13, and 4 were fertile. Says they will send me eggs in spring but I pay shipping. What should I do? I know hatch rates can vary due to shipping but all air pockets were attached but definitely were not fertile I’ve hatched 100s of eggs, I’m not an idiot. I’ve never had something like this happen before. They were a bantam mix, polish, silkies, Cochins etc

it's impossible to verify that each and every egg is fertile without opening it or waiting and by that time it's too late to send. it sound like she's trying to make good. there's not much one can do to garantee fertility, sometimes roos ignore hens abd have favorites. buying hatching eggs, it's a gamble, but it the only way most of us are able to get other breeds.
