okay so i have a broody hen and her recent chick which is about 2 and a half months old always sits with her on the nest.. i thought it was cute at first until she started pooing.. there were little chicken droppings all through the nest and im afraid its going to cause bacteria and im also afraid that this chick might step on the eggs and break them, she is about as big as her mother because her mum is a bantam but she was an egg i got from the other chickens which are ISA Browns.. anyway, im also afraid that when the eggs hatch / if they hatch, she might step on the chicks and kill them!
    what to do?

Can you put some kind of barrier around your broody?? Something to stop the chick getting into the nest. The mother will need her own space to raise the new chicks once hatched as well.

Have you consider move her to cage in the garage for about 5 days and then return back to original run? Chicken has short memory so her mom will chase her out the coup.
