Annoying Mother Rant

I don't have children of my own, but I can tell you that I did feel the same way as you many times while I was growing up.

But from where I am now, looking back to that time of my life I am so glad for the life lessons that my mom taught me. I do thank her many times! I do think she needs a badge of courage, for my rants at that age! So here's to all the moms out there

I've been working on my annoying mother patch all day! Poor kids

It might be wrong for the annoying mothers to hijak the annoying mothers rant - although I will say I've asked my seventeen year old to clean the front bathroom about 9000 times since this morning - she thinks I'm annoying!

Remember those Bill Cosby's lectures about kids??? I remember one episode that he said about Parenthood that his kids don't listen. Thinks that their brains were oozing out of their ears and the repeated Stop, stop, stop, stop stooooooooooooop! What part of the language don't you understand? Even with the chores, kids do not pick up the stuff and he would roll his eyes and said why don't you pick up (name of item). His daughter said "He DID it!"

I remember Mom doing all the chores and it was non ending for her while I sat around. Now I have a greater appreciation for her! It is haard work, babe! But the self gradification is greater that you did it on your own!

That sounds like our house. My parents ask me to pick up my brother's messes. I say "But I didn't do it!"(not to mention, this happened at TEN THIRTY AT NIGHT!!!!!) And they mom got mad at me for saying that! C'mon-really?

All of you "annoying mothers" I expect a "welcome to the club" ceremony in, let's say,2035.

So? I do that all the time. Even when I worked full time.

So, she sends you off to do this. You're not allowed to do anything-not even drink water or take a 30-second break-until you finish. If you're not finished by dinner? No meal for you! If you're still working past your bedtime? You stay up all night! And if you manage to finish? She gives you another chore to do. I'm lucky to be posting right now, although she'll probably call me upstairs with a list of things to do before I can finish! And she always does this while you're in the middle of your favorite TV show or your favorite computer game or reading a really cool post on your favorite forum. And while everyone's hard at work with the 3-foot list she gave them? She's sleeping, reading, listening to music, checking her e-mail.If YOU ask HER to do something? "I don't feel like it."

So? Who pays the bills? WHo provides the roof over your head?

So, we FEEL like doing the 20 chores you gave us 5 minutes ago?

I really want to tell her I'm not going to do chores until I get chickens sometimes.I really do.

You know, I never had kids of my own, but I always wanted someone to push around and be mean to and force to do chores. Oh well can't win them all.

Some mothers' Annoying Child rants I understand-because thier kids are flat out spoiled brats. I've watched some TV shows where the kids were holy terrors. One girl cursed at her parents over and over! Please! I've never done that in my life-and never will!

Another show was when this woman was getting married. She was speaking to her father. He said something she didn't like, and she said "Shut up,dad!" HELLO!!!!You don't tell your parents to shut up!

Some children are just really rude and bratty.I can't believe the number of kids I've seen throw temper tantrums in the store. The worst part is, they usually get what they want!!!

Abut the "two sides" theory- I know I'm not perfect, but I'm not terrible.

Then again, my mom's not perfect either.

Eh, my mother was annoying in this way too. Sometimes, she'd get a bug up her butt about the housework. I had a list of chores. When she was in one of her moods, if I dared commit the crime of finishing early so I could have some time to myself, she'd come up with something else for me to do. The rooms were never clean enough, she could always find something in them that needed cleaning. I recall scrubbing the edges of the floor with a toothbrush once as well as rewashing whole loads of laundry whose only crime was sitting out of the dryer for half an hour because I hate folding hot laundry. It wasn't the vacuuming that bothered me, it was the vacuuming rooms that didn't need it. It wasn't the cleaning of the bathroom, it was the scrubbing down with bleach of a bathroom that was already hospital sterile.

Sometimes, kids want to relax and have some downtime too. For my mother, sitting down for a few minutes was an invitation to her finding something for you to do. And yet she'd play solitaire for hours. Kids should share in the chores. They shouldn't be doing all of them, and they shouldn't be doing make-work unless they are being punished.

My dad?

The most "chores" she's done recently is dinner and dishes.

I still find it unfair to strip most fun time from your kids so you can relax. We're children, not maids.

I have earned my annoying mother patch as well

Totally annoying mother here - I make my kids do all that stuff PLUS clean chicken coop, muck stalls, feed all the animals and walk the dogs. My kids HATE the animal chores.
