Hi all, new here!
I joined because I googled “why isn’t my baby chicken growing” and I found quite a few threads with the same question but not quite the same situation (I don’t think...)
I am a recent new mom to 5 lil chickie nuggies.. purchased them from a reputable breeder in the area. Three of them (the Easter Eggers Scramble and Omelette, and Satan the black Silkie) born 9/28/2020, Frittata the Golden Cuckoo Maran was born a week earlier 9/21 and a late addition to the flock was Barbara a white Silkie from a reputable feed store, who was born a day after the three, 9/21. They all seem healthy and happy and it’s been fun to grow, and I was surprised to find at such rapidly different rates (hoping this is normal?? Scramble is HUGE compared to the rest, especially compared to sibling Omelette.
The thing is that Satan is just. not. growing. I thought maybe at first Scramble was growing so rapidly, the miniature chicken seemed to not grow in comparison, but at about 2.5 weeks Satan is just not keeping up especially compared to Barbara- also a Silkie born a day later even...
Satan seems otherwise healthy, bright eyes, mimicking the behaviors of the others at pace, normal poops, but isn’t growing the adult feathers at the same rate and is still so small. Kind of behaves like that dim chicken in Moana.....
I know they’re still young but at what point should I be concerned about growth and what is likely to happen from here
attached in the photo: scramble light brown one in the front, full sibling omelette right next in yellow, frittata dark brown spotted one, Barbara the white fluffy one and poor Satan the small black one in the back.
thank you for reading this far and thanks for any input!
